Lagoa District Beaches
Ferragudo to Carvoeiro to Senhora da Rocha
The Lagoa camera (district) has one of the highest density of beaches/coves in the Algarve and maybe in Portugal, some 30+. Not all these beaches are accessible by foot, some only by boat, many are dependent on the tides and even some of those accessible by foot have some level of difficulty.
Promoting the area and Portugal is not only a job for us but also a passion as many of clients recognise and below we would like to share as many of the 30+ beaches/coves in the Lagao district as possible. These start from Ferragudo in the west, passing through Carvoeiro and finish in Senhora da Rocha in the east of the district
Please note that the exact names of some of the beaches may differ and we will correct when we have the exact information (Details supplied by 3rd parties. Beaches may change with coastal errosion)
Praia da Angrinha
Long beach, accessible by foot. In harbour walls between the Portimao old bridge and Ferragudo Castle
Praia Grande Ferragudo
Long beach, accessible by foot, down a number of steps. Several beach bars and restaurants, kids playground. In harbour walls , to the east of Ferragudo castle
Praia da Infanta
Located between Praia Grande Ferragudo and Praia de Molho. Easiest is to walk towards the west of the car park for Praia do Molho and follow the path along and down. There are some steps down to the beach. Exactly around lowtide for exploring and is inside the harbour walls.
Praia de Molho
Follow the coastal road from Ferragudo to Carvoeiro and signposts to Pintadinho, then you will see at the end Praia de Molhe. There are about 151 steps down, with two beaches. The left is open sea and popular with surfers. To the right is inside the harbour walls and much calmer. This is a favourite place for me to go and walk the Molhe (jetty) and take photos, especially at sunset.
Praia do Pintadinho
This is a popular beach just outside the breakwaters, with some afternoon shade. You can walk straight onto the sand from the parking area. Great beach bar.
Praia do Torrado
Next to Praia dos Caneiros, possible to access at low tide or by boat
Praia dos Caneiros
Fair sized and popular beach which is between two cliffs. There is limited parking and during the summer there is a beach bar
Praia da Afurada

Praia do Vale de Lapa
About a 15 minute walk from the Vale de Lapa car park, not an easy access
Praia Cama da Vaca
Another one via boat only
Praia do Padre Vincent

Praia da Salgadeira
Very small and boat access only
Praia do Vale Currais
Difficult to reach by foot and little beach left
Praia do Paraiso
To the west of Carvoeiro beach, accessible by foot.. only about 151 steps down
Praia do Carvoeiro
Easy access by foot, plenty of places to eat nearby and perfect place to go and explore the grottos from
Praia do Vale Covo
Accessed behind the Tivoli, lots of steps and man-made ladders. But is a stunning view, and only good at low tide
Praia de Centianes

Praia da Morena
Large beach to kayak to, no foot access
Praia do Pontal
Popular with the pleasure cruises in the summer as a place to anchor off and have BBQs on the beach
Praia do Burranco
Possible to drive to the top and then a few hundred metre walk.
Accessible by foot, via a tunnel from Senhora da Rocha or down steps. Nice long and good depth beach
